Drawing number ranges

The tables below are concerned only with the number ranges for drawings; in many cases these are the same ranges as for other sheets such as material lists. For some organisations (especially Milliken Brothers and Blaw Knox), these number ranges are also the design contract numbers for the towers. For line contracts, see the contracts page.

Milliken Brothers and Blaw Knox

Erection diagram numbers are placed into a range with the same number as the contract, e.g. the K5735 erection diagrams are all numbered in the K5735 range. General arrangement diagrams are placed into a separate drawing number range with (typically) an XM prefix. Combined general arrangement and erection diagrams also use the XM range. The exact reason for the two number ranges is not known, likewise the different numerical orders of the two ranges in early years. The most recent types typically use the same number for T and XM and don’t follow any apparent sequence. The older LT numbering ranges appear to have contained the year as the final two digits of the range.

Watsham’s

Watsham’s drawing numbers do not appear to show any kind of internal numbering ranges. So far, no types are known to have exceeded 100 drawings: the first two digits match for all known drawings within a tower series, but this is not guaranteed to be true.
