J L Eve C15 0.15□″ SCA
Contents
Overview
J L Eve C15 0.1″ SCA is one of two sets of towers designed for the joint NEE SL1–MEE SL2 (North-East England and Mid-East England) scheme. Alongside the 0.1□″ SCA type, Eve also designed a 0.1□″ SCA type. The towers are very similar to ones depicted in [Marshall] as being, in 1933, the standard 66 kV double circuit towers. Due to the limited amount of available C15 material, the dimensions shown in [Marshall] have been used where the C15 drawings are missing or where the dimensions are obliterated by poor quality reproduction.
J L Eve C333 (ca. 1936) appears to be a considerably larger version of this design.
The drawings all have corresponding C15 and C23 numbers. Possibly one range was for NEE and the other for MEE; the C23 numbers were added afterwards as all cross-drawing references use only C15.
This type is presently only known from a line in Northampton (CE region).

Tower forms
The dimensions of C15 D3 and [Marshall] D3 differ, but the design is essentially the same, assuming errors in the diagrams in [Marshall]. The two D20 designs appear to be the same. No drawing was recovered for C15 D60 so the diagram for C15 C60 is an amalgamation of the Marshall drawing, the only example clearly visible from Street View (now believed to be demolished to make way for a new housing estate), and the D60/D20/DL earth bars drawing.
The following diagrams are shown to scale at 12 pixels per metre:
The widths of the earth bars were specified but the positioning was not. The D20 drawing below has the position according to Google Street View, while the other diagrams show it in the location suggested on the Eve drawings.

Tower details
Base widths are, uncharacteristically, between the centres of the stubs at ground level. Values marked * differ between [Marshall] and the C15 drawings. Values marked † are verified by the relevant Eve drawing.
