Overview

Use this page to help identify UK electricity pylon series by DX and SX transposition towers. Within each voltage class the tower series are arranged in approximate chronological order of introduction. See the comparisons page for other comparisons. See the series page for the list of known series.

Not all series are covered by this page; coverage is limited to available data. See the project completeness page for details.

Note that transposition towers were phased out early and only exist in the oldest tower suites.

Double circuit transposition towers have in most cases been converted to simple section towers. Because of this, there is very little information left to indicate how such towers looked in their original condition. The diagrams below depict, where possible, the original arrangement of each tower. The remainder simply show how the towers (would) look now.

Three and four circuit and dual voltage

The K1373 S and M types are three circuit (2 × 66 kV plus 1 × 33 kV).

Single circuit

Single-circuit transposition towers appear not to have been used with Milliken PL1 contracts as all that was needed was for a single tower to be installed facing the other direction. CEB L132 does stipulate SX single-circuit transposition towers, but so far none have been discovered.
