Coronavirus walk no. 176, Kimpton, 30th September 2023

Image display
Destination Kimpton
Distance 12.8 miles

This was going to be the last walk that I photographed, but it turned out not to be. The colour balance is, as usual, all wrong, despite spending several hours attempting to correct it.

With both a train strike and a weather strike, there was no pylon hunt, so a hunt replacement walk was taken instead. This walk turned out to be the genesis of the post box hunts.

Although nominally the destination was Kimpton, for whatever reason there are hardly any photographs of Kimpton itself. That will have to wait until another day.

Funny thing, letter boxes continue to bear the name of the monarch reigning when they were installed. Never seen a CIIIR one, but I do see the odd GR.

More lanes than public footpaths today, but nonetheless pretty, all the same; a lovely shade of green for the time of year

OK this is not especially well composed, but it’s a nice scene

Hoverfly. They were doing that thing where they hum when idle. I also saw a very interesting butterfly but it never settled and I could not work out what it was.

Folly Fields; not going this way

A brief detour: I thought this public footpath would lead to Kimpton but it seemed not to go the way I intended …

So many places that I would love to live in, if I drove.

Finally approaching Kimpton by way of a public footpath across the fields:

And that is really it! I stopped to get something to eat and drink, but took no more photographs before turning around to head back.
