Light construction towers

The “light construction” types are four 132 kV tower series designed for the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board that use Tiger (0.125□″ SCA) conductor, rather than the conventional Lynx (0.175□″ SCA). Previously known as “J L Eve 0.125”, two of the types are in fact Blaw Knox.
These towers appear to have a much lower lifetime than the stronger Lynx towers and are already being replaced and demolished one line at a time.
The four types are as follows:
- J L Eve C772: possibly the oldest type, from the 1950s, used on the line between Inveraray and Carradale. No earthwire.
- J L Eve C1415, used on the line between Dunoon and Garelochhead — as above, but with greater earthwire shade; appears to be 1970s.
- Inveraray–Taynuilt — Blaw Knox T1498.
- Quoich–Broadford — Blaw Knox T2639; as Inveraray–Taynuilt but with greater earthwire shade and the earthwire fitted.
