UK pylon finds catalogue

Overview

In its 15-year existence (2005–2020), the Pylon Appreciation Society never formed any kind of tower catalogue. Although the (unofficial) Pylon Appreciation Society group on Facebook remains active and members are actively posting photographs, this is a random, disordered and unmanageable sequence of images (with a lot of clutter and duplication), many with no known location and most with no mention of the tower type. Communication with the people involved would require the unsavoury act of joining the putrid cesspit that is Facebook, and that will never happen. Various photos exist on Flickr, but they are all copyrighted and series coverage is very poor. Collectively, whole tower types are broadly ignored by the community, especially the unusual types.

With no proper material to link to and most examples too far away to photograph, all that is left is to rely on undesirable sources. Links to such sources are disallowed on the individual series page:

Thus, these links were maintained offline within a single text file, which had grown to an unwieldy size. As a compromise, these links are now made available in this separate section of the site so that at least the knowledge is public.

Catalogue

Note that the descriptions are taken directly from the text file and are often vague and incomplete. The link captions are just some guff to make the links clickable; for Google Street View they are the location co-ordinates.
