Notes | Apparently MY was originally produced in the UK at Cherry Electrical Products in Harpenden, from ca. 1987–1988 onwards, following a long investigation process to find a way to cut holes in the polyester film without leaving a burr. (My cousin Keith reports that he invented the tooling for this around 1987 to 1988.) This was still a cutting-edge process at the time (pun not intended) although this does post-date NMB's membrane process buy a few years. Although the patents for MY date back to 1984, it was claimed that MY was introduced in 1987, a claim that thus far has remained unproven and untraceable. |
