Keyboard–switch database Changelog
2016-02-16
- Support for local and wiki links, part numbers and behaviour types of switches; this data will slowly be filled in over time; presently there is no support for variant part numbers (e.g. Alps SKCL Yellow has different part numbers depending on colour or absence of LED)
2016-02-03
- Switch timeline graph cleaned up and extended to cover switch variants and switch series.
2016-02-02
- Switch timeline graph implemented.
2016-01-31
- Alphabetic headings on the brands page; once the browser world gets its act together, the headings will no longer be allowed to sit at the bottom by themselves.
2016-01-30
- Until now, keyboard listings in date order have been sorted by the earliest date found on keyboards. I have decided that instead, the greatest date found should be used instead.
- “Subsidiary of” added as an extra inter-company relationship.
2016-01-29
- Having come across a Cherry RS 7600 USB keyboard with an absurdly long part number (“Smart Board XX44 G83-6744LUZDE-0/05”), I’ve extended the length of a number of fields to accommodate unusually long codes. (I doubt that the entire of that information is really the part number, but since I do not understand the specifics I have entered it verbatim, since accuracy and reliability is key in this database.)
2016-01-24
- FCC grantee code reference page derived from the database (including a way to catch some of the ones I have forgotten to assign to companies)
2016-01-17
- More chipping away at the horrible data model to facilitate better handling of unnamed keyboards belonging to products, and to keyboards with a part number but no model number
2016-01-03
- Support (to some extent anyhow) for keyboards with no model name or number at all (and a plague on the offending manufacturers)
- Support for listing the FCC ID for a brand
2015-11-29
- A page listing all new keyboard entries within the past six weeks
2015-11-22
- Switch variant pages now include a keyboard list, and the switch name is included in the page title
- Switch series notes implemented
2015-11-15
- Preliminary switch variant pages (not of any public use right now!)
- Switch variants can now have long titles, and these are used in listings in place of the suffix; the suffix is now intended solely for keyboard listings to reduce the column space required, but will be used if there is no long title
2015-11-14
- Introduction of sub-brand relationships between companies; additional company relationships will be introduced once the implementation requirements are understood
- Brand pages would show the make name in brackets after unbranded keyboards manufactured by the brand; now they are marked “(unbranded)” instead
- Changelog
- Switch list page groups variants together now
2015-11-09
- Keyboard listings could show duplicate entries when more than one switch matched the specified display criteria
2015-11-08
- Creation and modification dates now shown as just the date (not including the time) and modification dates are not shown if they’re the same as creation dates
- Additional note on the front page about collecting all date codes if possible, for contributions
- Support for internal and external part numbers and serial numbers
- Keyboard page would show the family FCC ID even when the keyboard was marked as having no FCC ID
2015-11-03
- Corrections and tweaks to the dating help page
- Count of keyboards using each switch, shown on the switch, switch series and series list pages
2015-11-02
- Keyboard pages omitted the product name and link
- Switch page listed the series name link under the heading “Manufacturer”, and the manufacturer under “Brand”
- Switch pages omitted the list of switch variants
- References list for a keyboard, and variants of a switch, are now listed as bullets if more than one exists
- A page added illustrating how to date keyboards
2015-11-01
- Keycombo gains its own contact page
- Keyboard page FCC override was not working (keyboard FCC would not override family FCC ID)
- Bad hack to support switch series hierarchy (created so that Alps SKCL and SKCM can be grouped together)
- Full names, country codes and website URLs for brands
2015-10-30
- The no–FCC ID override was broken due to a defect in the database library
- Bullet images for switches on brand pages, and products in product listings
- Preliminary support for brand notes
2015-10-29
- Support for up to three reference URLs now for where this is needed
- Manufacturer inheritance is now working again on keyboard pages
- Front page updated with contribution information and database statistics
2015-10-28
- The main keyboard list now shows the notes column
- Keyboard lists now use the product brand where applicable, and sort by this brand also
- Manufacturer column in the keyboards list was linking entirely to brand 0
- Switch and switch series insertion now supports switch and series short names
- Family FCC ID override, for where keyboard families have an FCC ID, but a specific keyboard does not
2015-10-27
- The column set used by most keyboard listings is revised: serial number and PCB codes are added, and notes is reduced to an iconic column
- PCB codes column on the keyboard list page replaced with manufacturer column to improve click-through ease
- Keyboard listings (except for the front page) are now all shown in date order
2015-10-26
- Products are now listed on brand pages
- Items on brand pags are now sorted alphabetically
- Keyboards on brand pages are now shown in detail
2015-10-25
- Product pages list keyboards as just the model number, with the OEM in brackets afterwards
- Products page
- Keyboards list now sorts unbranded keyboards by manufacturer name
- In the keyboards list, makes inherited from the family were not shown for unbranded keyboards
- The new product year field did not appear on keyboard pages
- Dateline for keyboard families was incorrect (being taken from the brand instead)
- The switch list for switch groups incorrectly listed the variant name the switch itself, separately to the variants list that followed
- Switch groups and series would list keyboards multiple times where they had more than switch from that group or series
- Year ranges for product dates
- Product creation
- Association of keyboard with product during keyboard insertion
2015-10-24
- Switch series pages now list all keyboards using switches from that series
- FCC ID inheritance implemented
- Keyboard list page now shows PCB codes, while other keyboard listings now omit serial numbers
- Switches of disposition “normal” are no longer tagged “(normal)” in keyboard listings, as this was confusing and redundant
- On switch series pages, the switches list groups switch variants into the same row
- For page types that show details then children, the dateline is moved up below the details table for clarity
- Support for anonymous switch serieses (using name “*”); the series name is omitted in keyboard listings
- Completed the support for switches with no known series
- Correct creation and modification dates shown for switches (they were picking up the details from the series)
- Short names for switches and switch series
- When viewing keyboards for a given switch, the switch in question is not made into a link back to the same page
- Switch groups
- The set of years recorded for a keyboard is presented in numerical order
2015-10-23
- Read-only implementation of products
- Switch series pages implemented, and links to switch serieses¹
- Switch pages now show all keyboards using that switch
¹ Not having a separate plural for “series” gets tiresome.

- Brand/manufacturer links implemented
- Links on switches list fixed
2015-10-20
- Keyboards can now be grouped by family
2015-10-18
