Siemens STB 11
Contents
Overview
STB 11 is a discontinued range of computer keyboard switches from Siemens. It is covered in German patent 2943855, filed in October 1979.
STB 11 is a tactile design, with an optional integrated diode. The plunger interacts with the contact leaf to generate the tactile feel.
Travel is 4.0 mm and 2.5 mm depending on model. 2.5 mm travel was introduced in 1983, for “Bedienfunktionen und für die Eingabe von Befehlen” (for for operating functions and for entering commands, i.e. keys that were not touch-typed). The other characteristics of the switches remained unchanged.
As with STB 21, STB 11 was offered with an internal BAW75 diodes for N-key rollover; 1N4154 was listed as a suitable alternative to BAW75. The STB 11 switches sold by SEGOR came with two types of diode: the colourful type depicted below, and plain cyan “BAW 75R”.

Documentation
- STB 11 2.5 mm press release (August 1983), provided by Siemens
- Siemens Switches and Pushbuttons Data Book (Schalter und Tasten Datenbuch), of unknown date and origin, from the Datasheet Archive via docplayer.org
The Switches and Pushbuttons Data Book is described on the Datasheet Archive as “1995 - flux F-SW32”, which may hint at the year; the PDF metadata has been overwritten, seemingly destroying the date of origin. The copy here is from docplayer.org as the current Datasheet Archive copy is corrupt.
