Brother AX-20

The photos below depict the keyboard of a Brother AX-20 electronic typewriter. The keyboard assembly is presumably manufactured by Brother themselves, as suggested by the membrane codes. The switch plungers are retained by a single plastic moulded panel. One membrane sheet is marked “B482063-4A” and the other circuit membrane sheet is likely to be marked “B482063-4B”. Both appear to have a date marking of April or May 1986 (the extent of the deleted dots, read right to left, bottom to top, depending on whether the active month is represented by a dot or a space).

Despite opting for cost-effective switches, Brother still used high-quality triple-shot keycaps, although this is not that unusual for a typewriter.
