ADDS Regent 25

Deskthority member “jsheradin” obtained an ADDS Regent 25 terminal with a highly unusual Cherry solid state capacitive keyboard. Although the overall design is closely related to the semi-discrete (plate-mounted) pre-DIN types, this uses a single plunger guide panel (“barrel plate”). All the photos on this page were provided by jsheradin via UncleFan.

Rear of the terminal; the terminal is serial number 143063

Strangely, the front of the terminal is Delco part TF01055-011 (“CONTR NO” F33657-75-C-0310, “DSGN ACT” 13160) and serial number 0000001, while the rear is Delco part TF00883-011 with serial number 7.

The internal keyboard assembly is Cherry part B5AB-7701, serial number 975543; it has a “DEC 1980” date stamp. The PCB code is 001-1183.

The keyboard’s PCB also bears an ADDS label, dated 9-17-82 and “BY” number 2948, possibly indicating that staff member 2948 replaced or repaired the keyboard assembly on 17th September 1982 (the label is not fully readable in the photos).

The ADDS part number appears to be 355-09500 REV. 4. This is the same ADDS part number as observed in another ADDS Regent 25 with what appear to be plate-mounted switches. The two examples have virtually identical PCBs, suggesting that this barrel plate model was a cost-reduced variant with the same mounting dimensions.
