Alps KFF series

KFF is a plate-mount keyboard switch series from Alps, referred to by enthusiasts as “Alps vertical plate spring”. It was in production long enough to be split into SKFF and KFFF series, as can be seen in a Sharp ZX-510 typewriter keyboard (model KFFFAA030B, PCB code 12KF097A) from around 1985 (based on the chips in the typewriter; the demultiplexer/decoder in the keyboard module itself is a little older, from late 1984). These switches are most closely associated with typewriters, but the double action type was also used in the Apple III computer for the cursor keys.

The original KFF designation was found in a Canon AP400 typewriter with model KFFBA010 and PCB code 12KF006C.
