Steveish
My fellow university student Steve had a funny tendency of mixing metaphors and re-inventing words that sounded correct to him. We both kept lists of these sayings, but through a Palm with a dead battery and the works of Norton Disk Doctor, neither survived. This is my attempt to reconstruct the catalogue of Steveish language, with help from Ian Gunn and from Steve himself. Hopefully, as time passes, this list will slowly grow.
Mixed metaphors
- A bolt out of left field
- A whole new can of worms
- Another feather in your bow
- He’s the big cheese in this small pond
- I went out like a log
- Parachuting from a sinking ship
- Sharp as a button
- Shoot yourself in the foot to spite your face
- You’ve really gone to school on this
- You’ve dug yourself a hole, now you’ve got to lie in it
- Now he’s crossed a line too far
- You’ve hit the wrong nail on the head (Steve cheated with this one)
Re-invented words
- Assassinise
- To bump off
- Complify
- To make more complex
- Recognitise
- To recognise and remember
- Simplificate
- To make less complified
- Specificate
- To make more specific

I even have one of my own: Should know it off the top of your heart :)
