Micro Switch CAKE
CAKE—the Computer-Assisted Keyboard Evaluator—was an automated final inspection keyboard testing system introduced by Micro Switch. As announced in Electronics magazine in January 1972, CAKE was intended to provide a “100% check of all function switches and circuitry”, with every key tested ten times for correct output. A complete test of a keyboard was expected to take “only a few minutes”, and initial operation was expected in February that year.
Further details of CAKE were given in Product Brochure SW from March 1973.
