The original Telcontar.net front page
Telcontar’s Homepage Mk 2 used large, colourful link images for the front page links to the various sections on the site. Telcontar.net switched to a mostly-text design to go easy on the eyes and improve page load time. However, the front page retained link images to the site sections, but a new, more uniform and muted design:
After some months, I decided that since they didn’t match the site style anyway, I should just remove them. Ever since, my front page has looked a little bland and uninviting, and it’s not as obvious how much fun there is to be found on the site. As such, I wonder if I should bring back a similar design. Just one that is slightly more in keeping with the style of the site.
Proceed to the original site front page
Just for the sake of posterity, here is the original holding page that was up for the seven months between purchasing the domain and putting up the site. The title image is too dark because Photoshop 5 writes out an incorrect gamma value and iCab ignores this (as may earlier versions of QuickTime), so I never realised at the time.
