Case Study 5 - Open Source

Open Source software, being in a sense the next generation of software and a demonstration of superior development approaches, should bring about a radical reduction in bugs and design flaws. One would like to think so, no? Alas, that does not seem to be as true as we would hope, with plenty of it ridiculously buggy and poorly designed. Software is only as good as the people who make it, whether they do it of their own accord, or are paid for their efforts.
