SEE SL6

Overview
SEE SL6 was a 33 kV secondary line contract in the South-East England scheme. The towers for this contract were designed by Milliken Brothers sometime around 1935 or 1936.
Johnson and Phillips constructed both SEE SL5 and SEE SL6. As the contracts were issued within a month of each other, it is possible that SEE SL5 (Lancing tee) used the same towers as SEE SL6, making SEE SL5 the nomenclature precendent. The Lancing tee no longer exists, so the tower type cannot presently be verified.
The SEE SL6 tower type is contemporary with that of NWE SL4 (designed in 1935). The two types are essentially the same design (and NWE SL4 started out with the at least approximately the same dimensions) but the crossarm spacing of the NWE SL4 towers was increased 8′–6″ to 10′–6″ to accommodate harsher environmental conditions.

Lines
Details of SEE SL6 are currently pending release. Lines known to use these towers:
- Colchester to Coggeshall (all or part of SEE SL6)
- A short line from (it appears) Byfleet substation to Woking; historic Ordnance Survey maps show the line beginning the edge of Byfleet (presumed underground up to the substation), while the line now terminates further away
The latter line
Tower forms
No drawings have been recovered. The line tower is adapted per one of the photos on Alamy from an unidentified type in [Nicholls] (1945), and further adapted per a photograph taken in Woking; this type appears to exactly match the vertical dimensions of the 1945 type. It has not been possible to get a straight-on view of an angle tower.
