Notes

The part number is a guess. Modification J7 denotes “Lighted top-loaded S820”, and modification L1 denotes tinned leads. (The meaning of “top-loaded” is a mystery, but J7 is the standard code for an illuminated switch.) The lamp sits in a recess in the top of the switch, instead of on the top of the switch as is normally the case. The part was sold as “S820” likely because this is the code moulded into the top of it. However, the low operating force suggests that this might be a special low-force type.

The switch is close to being Cherry MX mount. Cherry G80-3000 lasered keycaps fit quite well, although they could grip tighter. Tai-Hao TI series keycaps grip fairly tightly. Signature Plastics DCS keycaps are a loose fit, although they may grip better if fitted sideways.

The switch is very smooth, and seems to have a weighting of around 45 gram actuation force (very similar to Cherry MX red).

Of the three, two have “ASM MEXICO” moulded into the bottom.
