All the photographs below come from my various walks, including pylon and post box hunts. Except where noted, all photographs represent the start, end or waypoint on a journey, after I alighted the train or was waiting to board.

Bricket Wood

Lesson learnt: when meeting someone at a station, recognise that they may exit the station on the other side. (Harpenden station, like many stations, has two entrances.)

Paddington
Paddington was surprising in that there are platform-specific ticket barriers. You’re supposed to realise that you have to wait for one of the overhead displays to show your train as boarding before proceeding through the appropriate ticket barrier, and not treat Paddington as a “normal” station and go through the ticket barrier for the wrong platform and find yourself trapped …
