Edward VIII post boxes
Contents
Overview
This page depicts examples of Edward VIII (EVIIIR) post boxes in the UK. Edward VIII reigned from 20th January to 11th December 1936, less than one year, making postboxes bearing his royal cypher a rarity. The photos were taken during my various walks.
Examples
Chorleywood
Pillar box WD3 73D at the junction of Shire Lane and Haddon Road, Chorleywood, manufactured by Carron Company. Unlike most examples that were discovered during walks, this one features on the Wikipedia page for Edward VIII, taken from Geograph, albeit only the trunk featuring the cypher. Its proximity and rarity warranted a special journey to photograph it in detail.
