Notices for 24th February 2004 to 1st March 2004

Tuesday, 24th February 2004

For once, an update that is not a new release, but it is nevertheless still technical – I have posted my guide to virtual hosting using MacHTTP, which explains the basics of virtual hosting, covers setting up virtual hosting in MacHTTP, and explains how this process can also add security protection to MacHTTP. (While I was at it, I added a couple of missing </p> tags at the end of the other two articles… d’oh!)

And a little goodie for readers of the notices: sneak preview pictures of the new HTTP Werkzeug 1.3, 1, 2. HTTP Werkzeug 1.3 is going to rock =)

Sorry about the broken Win32 installer for HTTP Werkzeug. It turns out that, seeing as my Mac doesn’t recognise .exe files (I have no Internet Config file type mapping for it), my FTP client decided to upload it in text mode, corrupting it. I have re-posted the file, so it should work fine now =)

Monday, 1st March 2004

Well, today is a day of changes for you, dear visitors. Today was also Web Day – been helping Adam and goo with their own Web work as well as working on Telcontar.net. This was also the second time that cable has dropped out while trying to do a major site update, but luckily it was only for a minute or so. Silly ntl =p

So what have we got for you then? Firstly, the long-overdue image formats guide has finally arrived – no more excuses for dodgy or oversized JPEGs or mangled screenshots from anyone, you hear? :) I have also completed my write-up of the Hangman package I wrote at secondary school – this one is of particular interest for the retro computing people, or anyone wondering what I did with my sad little life when I was 16. I was such a nerd :) (hey, I still am!)

I have also moved two pages off my old website – the remedy for chain-mail senders and the psychological test – go have a read.
